First Steps

Expand

For a detailed instruction how to set up your netFIELD Device IO-Link Wireless MasterBridge, please follow the chapter "Getting StartedMounting and commissioning" in the User Manual.

→ …\Documentation\User_Manuals\...

Mounting

  • Mark the positions to fasten the device with screws and cut the M4 holes.
  • Fasten the device with the screws.
  • Ground the device.
  • Mount all three SMA antennas.

Connecting and booting

  • Connect the Ethernet M12 cable to the NFD-3090-PNS-IOLM\W device and to the PLC (PROFINET IO-Controller).
  • Connect the Ethernet M12 cable to the NFD-3090-EIS-IOLM\W device and to the PLC (EtherNet/IP Scanner).
  • Connect the +24 V DC SELV or PELV power supply to the NFD-3090-PNS-IOLM\W device
  • Connect the +24 V DC SELV or PELV power supply to the NFD-3090-EIS-IOLM\W device.
  • Connect the +24 V DC SELV or PELV power supply to the IO-Link Device.
  • Switch on the power supply units of the device and of the IO-Link Device.

Commissioning PROFINET IO Device

  • Configure the PROFINET IO-Controller: Import the GSDML file:
    ...\Firmware_&_EDS\DeviceDescription\Profinet\... GSDML-V2.35-HILSCHER-NETFIELD-WIRELESS-EXPERT-20210707.xml
This file is to be used if settings of the „Wireless Master Parameters“ are made using the configuration software of the PROFINET IO-Controller.
     ...\Firmware_&_EDS\DeviceDescription\Profinet\... GSDML-V2.35-HILSCHER-NETFIELD-WIRELESS-PDCT-20210623.xml
This file is to be used if settings of the „Wireless Master Parameters“ are made using the netFIELD Web Server.
  • Create the configuration project with PROFINET IO-Controller and PROFINET IO-Device, select the modules and submodules and set the parameters.
  • Configure the IO-Link Wireless Master NFD-3090-PNS-IOLM\W using the Web Server.
  • Configure the port parameters via the PROFINET IO-Controller or using the Web Server.
  • Configure the IO-Link Device.

Commissioning EtherCAT Slave

  • For the first commissioning, the NFD-3090-ECS-IOLM\W device requires a DHCP server.
  • In the configuration software of the EtherCAT Master:
    • Configure the EtherCAT Master: Import the EDS file:
      ...\Firmware_&_EDS\DeviceDescription\EtherCAT\... Hilscher_netFIELD_Wireless.xml.
    • Create the configuration project with EtherCAT Master and EtherCAT Slave, select the modules and submodules and set the parameters.
  • For the subsequent steps the following configuration tools can be used:
    • Configure the IO-Link Wireless Master NFD-3090-ECS-IOLM\W using the netFIELD Wireless Web Server.
    • Configure the wireless IO-Link port parameters via the configuration software of the EtherCAT Master or using the netFIELD Wireless Web Server.
    • Configure the IO-Link Device.

Commissioning EtherNet/IP Adapter

  • For the first commissioning, the NFD-3090-EIS-IOLM\W device requires a DHCP server.
  • Configure the EtherNet/IP Scanner: Import the EDS file:
    ...\Firmware_&_EDS\DeviceDescription\EtherNetIP\... HILSCHER-NETFIELD-WIRELESS-V2.1.EDS
  • Create the configuration project with EtherNet/IP Scanner and EtherNet/IP Adapter, select the connection and set the parameters.
  • Configure the IO-Link Wireless Master NFD-3090-EIS-IOLM\W using the Web Server.
  • Configure the port parameters via the EtherNet/IP Scanner or using the Web Server.
  • Configure the IO-Link Device.

    Mounting without clip

    • Plug it onto the IO-Link Device to be connected
    • Establish a cable connection from the Wireless Bridge to the IO-Link device

    Mounting with clip

    • The clip is an easy-to-use retaining bracket to mount the Wireless Bridge to flanges, machines, equipment, and other flat surfaces
    • With M3 screws or cable ties it can easily be fixed

Step-by-step instructions for commissioning the bridge

To commission an IO-Link Device in an IO-Link wireless radio network using the Wireless Bridge, perform the following steps:

    • Connect the A-coded M12 supply connector of the Wireless Bridge to the power supply using a suitable M12 cable (24 V SELV/PELV power supply required). Make sure that the cable cross-section of the M12 cable is sufficiently large
    • The power LED of the Wireless Bridge emits a green light. If this is not the case, check the power supply
    • As soon as the Wireless Bridge is connected to the power supply, a reset cycle occurs. This takes a few seconds. During this period, the status LED shows a signal sequence in red, green, and blue
    • As soon as the reset cycle is completed, the status LED starts flashing alternately purple and yellow
    • Connect the IO-Link Device (sensor/actuator)
    • The status LED is flashing alternately purple and green

    • Now, you can set up and configure the wireless data transfer of the Wireless Bridge
