CIFX Device Driver - How to create Logfiles

Introduction

The CIFX Device Driver gives the option to export a Logfile, including informations about the driver operations in detail.

This Application Note describes how to activate the creation of these Logfiles and how to use them for analysis.

Activate Logfile creation

To activate the Logfile-Creation, open the Tool "CIFX Setup", which is available in the Windows Control Panel or the following Path: "C:\Program Files\cifX Device Driver":

Open "Driver → Global Settings":

Activate all Trace Level options in the upcoming window, to get full informations from the created Logfile:


Creation path

After a restart of the PC, a Logfile will be created in Path "C:\Program Files\cifX Device Driver", for each built-in CIFX Card:


Analyze Logfile

The Driver-Logfile includes informations about the Driver version and all Driver operations executed.

Device Info:

The Driver-Logfile of a successfully started device, always shows the Device information.

These consist of Device Number (Article number), Serial Number and the selected Slot ID (if used).


Firmware Download:

This part of the logfile, shows whether a Firmware file is available in the driver directory.

It also shows if it has been successfully downloaded.


Configuration Download:

Just like the Firmware, the configuration will be downloaded to the device, if available.


Device successfully created:

This message indicates, that the device could be created successfully by the driver.
