Is there a method to backup and restore configuration settings?
Since the gateway consists of many different software modules and at least of as many configuration files there is not a global configuration file that can be saved for a backup/restore procedure.
Instead a 1:1 backup copy of the whole system software can be created using the Control Panel/System/Backup and Restore service in the gateway's web management web UI. This ensures 100% a proper recovery just in case.
When a backup image is triggered with Create local backup the gateway starts copying the system data onto a reserved area of its main storage medium in the background while it is continuing normal operation. During this operation the gateway indicates the status Backup in progress ... .
After a while the creating the backup file will be finished and offered in your browser ready for a download to be saved to your backup file storage media using the Download local backup button.
To overwrite a gateway with a saved backup image the same Backup and Restore service has to be used but using the Restore from backup button while specifying the system image to be recovered. You can restore from the local backup file that is on the gateway already or from an external source. In latter case an existing local backup file will not be overwritten.
We recommend to make a backup file at regular time intervals and to download it to your backup file storage media.
