Does a gateway provide DHCP server based IP address assignment?

The gateway's LAN port #1 is configured to receive a client IP address through a DHCP server by default.
If there is no DHCP server available during the time the gateway requests the DHCPDISCOVER message the port remains unconfigured.
To force the gateway sending a new DHCPDISCOVER message unplug the Ethernet cable on LAN port #1 interrupting the data link and plug it in back again.
