EIS Obtaining IP address by DHCP server
This quick guide shows how to set up a DHCP server using Rockwell's BOOTP/DHCP Server.
After installing the tool, all devices requesting an IP address are listed in the Request History.
By double-clicking on a request a "Properties" window appears, now the IP address can be assigned to the specific Ethernet MAC:
Once the assignment is confirmed by "OK", the next IP address request will be responded by the server. IP addresses provided by this server are listed in the lower "Relation List".
It has to be considered if more than one Ethernet adapter are available in the system. To be sure the interaction with the DHCP server is running through the proper Ethernet adapter, set the metric of the used adapter to the lowest value compared to the rest, e.g. 1.
