Sometimes after debugging, the netX Studio toolbar is missing the debug buttons. How to fix this?

This is a bug which occurs in different situations and is difficult to trace. A fix may be available in future netX Studio versions. In the meantime you may try the workarounds below.

Try switching between the netX Development and netX Debug perspectives manually:

  1. If there is an active debug session, stop debugging to return back to the development perspective

  2. From the netX Development perspective, in the Quick Access box at the right-end of the toolbar type in "netX Debug" and select the netX Debug perspective to open the debug perspective

  3. From the netX Debug perspective, in the Quick Access box type in "netX Development" and select the netX Development perspective to return to the development perspective

If the missing buttons do not appear, and restarting netX Studio does not help, you may choose to reset the entire netX Studio window layout by deleting the workbench.xmi configuration file.

Reset the entire netX Studio window layout by deleting workbench.xmi:

  1. Close netX Studio (make sure it is not running as deleting the workbench.xmi file will not take effect otherwise)

  2. Navigate to the netX Studio CDT user preferences folder:
    C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Hilscher GmbH\netX Studio CDT\preferences

    Note

The Windows AppData folder is hidden by default and you may need to check the Hidden items option in File Explorer > View to see it.

  3. Open the most recent preferences folder and then navigate to .plugins\org.eclipse.e4.workbench

  4. Delete the workbench.xmi file
  5. Start netX Studio again => netX Studio is started with the default window layout
