Update Software

Please first of all perform an update of Sycon.net.

Ethernet Device Config Tool

Set an IP-Adress via NetIdent

The NetIdent protocol is only supported by Hilscher devices.

With its help, TCP/IP devices can be identified and an IP address can be set.

The IP address is set temporarily. It will be set back to 0.0.0.0 after a Firmwaredownload.

Depending on the protocol, downloading a configuration can also lead to resetting the IP address.

This happens for example with a Profinet IO device, because the IO controller is responsible for the assignment of the IP address in further process.

Sycon.net

Driver selection

In the navigation area, select Settings -> Drivers, then select netX Driver.

Fill in the "Select IP Range"

This window is used to define which IP address or IP range (browse multiple IP addresses) SYCON.net should use to connect to a gateway device.

Click on the + button to create an IP range.

With this you can now define in the "IP Configuration" area which IP addresses are to be searched for a device.

If an IP Range is already defined, you can either select and edit it or define another address range by clicking the + button.

Set under "IP Address" the IP start and end addresses in which the device to be configured is to be searched.

If you operate your PC on an Ethernet network, make sure that the device can also be reached in the set address range.

Connection

After a download to the device, the IP must be set again = normal behaviour

After downloading a firmware or configuration to the device, it loses its temporary IP address.
This results in the following error message in Sycon.net:

This is normal behavior. After each download, the IP address must be reassigned via NetIdent.

Connect NetTap directly to the network card

Use a network card with a fixed IP address

Deactivate DHCP in the settings of your network card.

A static IP address is required.

Network card and NT / NL IP addresses should be in the same subnet

Misc

Restart ODMV3

ODMV3 is an online data manager used by Sycon.net.

If unexpected problems arise, a reboot can often help.
The ODMV3 can be found as shown, bottom right in the picture. By right-clicking you can then perform various actions.
