The Edge Server is able to scan automatically the fieldbus topology and can read device parameter in a PROFINET network environment by using several protocols in combination, such as SNMP, ARP, TMG and PROFINET RPC. In order to add semantic information of the devices for the use with the OPC UA server and RESTful API, the user can upload the Device Description Files of the connected devices. This feature is available for all netIOT Edge Gateways On-Premise, Remote and Connect. As shown in the picture, the Edge Server data are accessable by the OPC UA server or the RESTful API described below. The configuration is quite simple. There are some simple adjustment necessary, like IP range and protocols, which should be used for the scan. |
