Q

After download of the configuration a netHOST does not start the network, why?

A

By default a netHOST bus startup behaviour is configured to "controlled by application" parameter by SYCON.net. This means a netHOST remains offline the Real-Time Ethernet or Fieldbus network until it is told by an application to start.

You find this parameter in the master settings dialog typically. The example below is taken from the PROFIBUS-DP configuration dialog.

Setting the parameter by default to "controlled by application" has an advantage in redundant applications. When two netHOSTs are used in combination to interact a subordinate Real-Time Ethernet or Fieldbus network both a not communicating after a reset to the networks. Only after being notified by application each of both is taking care of the network or not.
