Why do the atvise Builder tool needs to be licensed?

By default the atvise Builder tool can be downloaded for free

a.) at www.atvise.com or

b.) be installed using the netSCADA product DVD.

You can install and test it for free without the need for a license.

But once you want to go online with netSCADA devices a license is needed. The license is installed during the setup procedure of the Hilscher Plugin which can be found on the Product DVD.

During the licensing procedure internet access is required once. After the licensing procedure is finished a new file has been generated in the installation folder of ativse named "atserver.lic" with information stored coming from atvise license server.

The license file is bound to the PC where the license has been requested from and cannot be used on other PCs.

The license information received in the license file is checked and validated against a license information included in the firmware of the netSCADA device. If the license information does not match the visualization will generate an "invalid license" window on your web browser and will not run.
