Gateway Signal Mapping [EN]
General Information
The signal mapping is used to define how the IO data of the two ports X2 and X3 should be assigned to each other or how the data should be transferred from one protocol language to another.
This process is part of the gateway configuration in Sycon.net.
This is illustrated by the following representation:
Mapping
First, the configuration of the two protocols, in particular the configuration of the IO data length, must be completed.
Right-click on the Gateway → Configuration → Gateway to access the gateway configuration. From here, select "Signal Mapping" in the "Navigation Area".
Overview
The upper part of the window (Available Signals) shows the available I/O data.
By marking the port (e.g., X2), all available I/O data is displayed below. By clicking on a specific module, only the data of the selected module will be displayed.
In the lower part of the window (mapped signals), the signals already mapped from X2 to X3 or from X3 to X2 are displayed.
These can only be changed using "Available Signals" again, if the mapping has been removed via "remove link".
It also shows the current data direction.
Automapping
Please refrain from using the Automapping function:
By using automapping, port X3 is mirrored to X2, or X2 to X3.
This can lead to unwanted configuration changes and, as a result, further communication issues.
Once automapping has been activated, the changes can not be completely undone.
In this case it is recommended to completely rebuild the project in Sycon.net and perform a manual mapping.
Manual Mapping
In order to manually map the IO data, under "Available Signals", mark the "receive data" in one of the two ports and drag and drop them to "send data" of the other port.
Only receive to send data can be drawn. Drag and drop from send to receive data is not possible.
It can be assigned to individual signals, but also several signals simultaneously.
The assigned signals are displayed under "Mapped Signals":
