Sycon.net - Device Description import [EN]
Introduction
The configuration of a fieldbus network in a field device tool (FDT) is used to make the master aware of the specification of the network and its slaves. The participants themselves are each configured in a Device Type Manager (DTM).
For this purpose, the devices are described in device description files.
They define the basic values and degrees of freedom in which the device can be configured. The device description file is provided by the manufacturer of the slave.
Sycon.NET
The Sycon.NET device catalog contains only Hilscher devices in the delivery state.
If the participant is not yet included in the device catalog of Sycon.NET, the device can be added by importing the device description file.
Import
To activate the import function, it is necessary to select the "netProject" or "netDevice" control element.
Then the import dialog can be opened via "Network-> Import Device Description".
In the following dialog you can browse to the desired device description file.
Important: The file type needs to be set to the appropriate bus protocol. If the setting is incorrect, the import will not complete successfully.
Device catalog
After the import, reloading the device catalog is required.
The imported device should be located under the proper fieldbus directory in the "Slave" folder.
Tip: By switching to the "Vendor" tap, it may be easier to find the imported device.
